Buro Happold

Buro Happold is a global engineering consultancy with deep roots in the South West, where we were founded in Bath in 1976. Our headquarters remains in the city, home to over 500 multidisciplinary professionals. We are proud to contribute to the region’s built environment, delivering transformative projects across science, technology, higher education, and healthcare.

Our Science and Technology sector is internationally recognised for designing cutting-edge laboratories, research facilities, innovation districts, and university buildings. We bring global expertise in CL2 and CL3 labs, vivaria, GMP facilities, and ISO 4–8 cleanrooms, tailored to meet the evolving needs of scientific research and innovation.

We work with government bodies, universities, developers, and commercial clients, offering a unique blend of technical excellence, creativity, and collaborative communication. Our specialist laboratory consultancy team leads globally in briefing, design, and planning for research organisations and speculative developments.

Notable regional projects include the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (University of Bristol), Cyber Central (Henry Boot Developments), and the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.

We are committed to delivering sustainable, future-ready environments that support innovation, attract investment, and strengthen the UK’s position as a leader in science and technology.
